This guide is a new-owner orientation — it explains what the platform is, how to prepare your room and your team, and the safe-operation fundamentals that come before any patient is treated. It is written for the clinic owner and operating staff.
One point up front: this page does not publish treatment settings. Fluence, pulse timing, repetition rate, and mode recipes are provider-directed clinical decisions that belong to your hands-on training and your verified operating manual, not to a public web page. Where a real setting would normally appear below, you will see a note pointing you back to training.
What you now own
The DPL Elite is a vertical, floor-standing narrowband Dynamic Pulsed Light (DPL) platform rated at 4500 W. Rather than emitting a broad IPL spectrum, it concentrates filtered output into an optimized narrowband range to target chromophores such as melanin and hemoglobin. As equipment, the platform offers:
- Selectable narrowband filter / handpiece ranges — 640–750 nm, 640–950 nm, 530–750 nm, and 530–950 nm — that a provider matches to the indication and skin profile.
- Treatment modes — HR, SR, and AC.
- Operation systems — Auto Mode (pre-set parameters) and Professional Mode (manual control), selected on a 10.4-inch color touchscreen.
- Sapphire contact cooling reaching approximately −5 °C for surface protection.
- A 15 mm × 50 mm applicator spot and handpieces rated for approximately 1,000,000 pulses.
The platform is intended for hair reduction, pigmentation, vascular concerns, acne, and skin rejuvenation, and is suitable across Fitzpatrick skin types I–V. It is Health Canada licensed in Canada. Supplied worldwide through Laser Equipment Global.
Before your first treatment day
Prepare the space and the people before you prepare a patient.
- Room and power. Position the vertical chassis with clearance for airflow and cabling, on a suitable circuit. Confirm the unit powers up and the touchscreen reaches its ready state.
- Protective eyewear for everyone present. Stock correct IPL/DPL-rated eyewear for the provider, the patient, and any observer in the room. No one should be in the treatment area without appropriate protection.
- Key, interlock, and signage. Locate the key control and any door/interlock features, and post treatment-in-progress signage at the room entrance.
- Designate a Laser Safety Officer (LSO). Assign a trained staff member to own eyewear, interlocks, signage, contraindication screening, and incident procedures.
Getting to know the system
Spend time with the platform before treating anyone. Learn where the key and power controls are, how to seat and change the handpiece, and how the narrowband filter / handpiece ranges are selected. Practice navigating the 10.4-inch touchscreen — switching between Auto and Professional operation and between HR, SR, and AC modes — so the interface is familiar under real conditions.
Understand the sapphire contact-cooling behaviour: the crystal is designed to reach approximately −5 °C, and consistent skin contact is part of how the surface is protected during delivery. Confirm that cooling reaches its ready state before any practice pass, and know how the system indicates readiness.
Safe-operation fundamentals
These fundamentals are standard practice; the clinical judgement behind them is provider-directed.
- Eyewear, every pulse, everyone. Confirm correct IPL/DPL eyewear on all present before firing.
- Skin-type screening. Screen each patient’s Fitzpatrick type. Narrowband filtering and contact cooling support treatment across types I–V, but melanin-rich skin (III–V) is approached conservatively by trained providers. Light-based treatment carries added caution on darker skin and for melasma — screen carefully and proceed conservatively.
- Test spots. Use provider-directed test spots and an appropriate observation interval before treating a full area, especially on higher Fitzpatrick types or uncertain presentations.
- Contraindications. Maintain a provider-approved screening checklist (for example recent sun exposure, photosensitizing factors, and other clinical cautions) and document it.

Treatment-day workflow (general)
A treatment day follows a predictable shape, independent of any specific numbers:
- Power up, allow the system and cooling to reach their ready state, and run your start-of-day checks.
- Confirm eyewear for everyone in the room and review the patient’s screening and consent.
- Select the appropriate mode and narrowband range for the provider-directed plan, and confirm cooling contact.
- Perform a test spot where indicated and observe before proceeding.
- Treat, monitoring skin response and patient comfort throughout.
- Complete post-treatment care, document the session, and clean the applicator.

Settings and protocols
This is intentionally the shortest section on the page. Treatment parameters and step-by-step clinical protocols are not published on a public resource, because they depend on the indication, the individual patient, the Fitzpatrick type, and the treating clinician’s judgement.

Care and maintenance
Routine care protects both output consistency and your handpiece investment (rated for approximately 1,000,000 pulses). In general terms:
- Keep the sapphire contact crystal and applicator clean per your manual’s method, and inspect the optical surface for debris or damage before sessions.
- Keep vents and the cooling subsystem clear so the chassis can maintain its cooling headroom.
- Inspect cabling, the handpiece seat, and the key/interlock hardware regularly.
- Track handpiece pulse usage against its rated life so replacements are planned, not urgent.

Simple troubleshooting
For non-clinical issues, start with the basics before escalating:
- Won’t power up or reach ready state — confirm the key position, power connection, and circuit, and check for any interlock or door condition.
- Cooling not confirming — verify the crystal is clean and seated and that the system has been given time to reach its cooling ready state.
- Touchscreen or mode won’t respond — confirm the selected operation system and mode, and restart the platform through its normal shutdown sequence if needed.
- Handpiece concerns — inspect the optical surface and seating; check pulse count against rated life.
If an issue persists, or if you observe anything affecting output or safety, stop treatment and contact support rather than continuing.
