- 10,600 nm CO₂ Laser The far-infrared wavelength produced by carbon dioxide laser sources, strongly absorbed by water and therefore by tissue generally.
- Ablative CO₂ Laser A CO₂ delivery mode in which energy is absorbed at the surface strongly enough to remove tissue rather than heat it alone.
- Contact Cooling A cooling method in which a chilled handpiece surface contacts the tissue during treatment, protecting the surface while energy passes through it.
